Cafe Juridique
In the latest episode of Cafe Juridique hosted on Friday 29th April, we discussed “AI Regulation in Africa: Trends and Developments”. This insightful episode was moderated by our Associate Director, Ridwan Oloyede, a follow-up to a report we published in March 2024h with the same title. The report is available on the Certa Foundation website.
We were privileged to have Dr. Patricia Boshe and Dr. Emmanuel Salami share their expert insights on the current state of AI regulation in Africa. They highlighted key trends such as the adoption of national AI strategies, policies, roadmaps, and charters. They also discussed the growing role of data protection authorities, the establishment of expert committees and task forces, and the adoption of AIethics principles. The discussion further explored sector-specific regulatory interventions, proposals for AI-specific laws, and the adoption of codes of practice and standards.
