Empowering Female Law Students as Champions for Gender Equality & SGBV Combat
From 15th – 26thJanuary 2024, the Center for Justice and Advocacy conducted an intensive training program aimed at empowering the top 20 female law students with exceptional academic performance, legal acumen, and a dedicated commitment to addressing Sexual Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) to become active agents of change in promoting gender equality and combating Gender based violence.
This comprehensive training delved into critical aspects such as legal reasoning, research methodologies, law reporting, and a profound understanding of SGBV and victim protection. Facilitated by seasoned legal professionals and experts, the program aimed to elevate participants' proficiency in analyzing legal cases, conducting thorough research, and advocating for the rights of victims.
The successful completion of the training resulted in placing the top 10 best female law students at the Judiciary to compile the first ever SGBV Law Digest, that will serve as a valuable resource for legal professionals, justice actors and stakeholders involved in addressing SGBV and promoting justice for victims. Overall, this initiative represents a significant step forward in advancing legal responses to SGBV in Rwanda, underscoring the commitment of the Center for Justice and Advocacy to combating gender-based violence and promoting justice for survivors.
