Empowering Teen Mothers Through Home Visits

In early January 2024, the Center for Justice and Advocacy team embarked on a series of home visits to teen mothers enrolled in the Certa Foundation's transformative 'Teen Mothers Scholarship Program.' These visits took us to remote corners of Rwanda, where we witnessed firsthand the resilience and determination of these young women and their families.

What we found during these visits was truly inspiring. In the face of adversity, we discovered a profound display of familial love and support. Parents, with unwavering determination, are shouldering the responsibility of caring for their grandchildren while their daughters pursue their education.

At the heart of the Center for Justice and Advocacy lies a commitment to a holistic approach. We recognize that educational support must be complemented by addressing broader socio-economic challenges. Therefore, based on the insights drawn from these visits, targeted interventions will be implemented in collaboration with local communities and stakeholders, ensuring a comprehensive support system is in place.

 Our collective goal remains steadfast: to empower these young women with the resources and opportunities they need not only to excel in their education but also to thrive in all aspects of their lives. Together, we are laying the foundation for a brighter future. With each scholarship provided and each home visit, we are not just providing educational support to teen mothers; we are fostering a sense of empowerment and possibility.
