From 5th- 16th February 2024, the Center for Justice and Advocacy at Certa Foundation embarked on a groundbreaking initiative, launching a comprehensive year-long Women Lawyers Capacity Building Training. This pioneering program was meticulously crafted with a primary objective to bridge the gender gap prevalent in legal professions, particularly focusing on elevating women within the Rwanda Bar Association. The inaugural phase of the training, spanning two weeks, concentrated on developing essential soft skills and enhancing visibility for women Lawyers.

Ms. Florida Kabasinga, the Founder and Executive Director of Certa Foundation, emphasized the significance of cultivating personal brands alongside legal expertise. The training curriculum encompassed a wide array of topics, including inter alia, legal reasoning, financial literacy, digital workspaces, negotiation techniques, corporate communication, data protection and effective task management, acknowledging the need for women to deliver outcomes comparable to their male counterparts. Each training session was tailored to enhance visibility and hone the soft skills essential for navigating the professional realm effectively.

Lydia Taima Munganyinka, Director of the Center for Justice and Advocacy, reiterated the center's commitment to empowering women, including women lawyers. She underscored the pivotal role of female decision-makers in combating gender disparities and advocating for gender-sensitive policies that uphold and protect women's rights.

The participants expressed profound gratitude for the enriching experience, acknowledging feeling empowered to excel in their careers and make meaningful contributions to the legal profession. They pledged to embrace visibility and digitalization as indispensable tools in achieving their professional aspirations.

The Women Lawyers Capacity Building Training stands as a beacon of hope, ushering in anew era of gender equality and empowerment within the legal sphere. Through concerted efforts and targeted initiatives, we can continue to dismantle barriers and create a more inclusive and equitable profession for all.
