On 22nd March, we were pleased to visit Kayonza Modern Secondary School, who were recently crowned national AI Robotics Hackathon champions at the First LEGO League (FLL) and AI Hackathon Competition held in Kigali. The CLI team engaged with over 600 brilliant young minds of Kayonza Modern, on career development and leadership, writing skills, research, and exploring the intersection between law and innovation. While our focus was on law and technology, we also exposed students to a wide array of opportunities available to them, especially in the rapidly advancing field of technology. Rwanda's ambitious goal of becoming the leading technological hub in Africa served as a backdrop, inspiring students to consider the limitless possibilities within the tech sector.

In addition to exploring opportunities within Rwanda, the Center for Law and Innovation team also introduced students to college scholarship opportunities outside of the country. We explained the entire process, from preparing for university opportunities to becoming competitive at the international level by engaging in various activities such as internships. The goal is to empower students to pursue education abroad, gain valuable knowledge, and ultimately contribute to Rwanda's development goals upon their return. We specifically encouraged young girls to pursue opportunities in this field and consider how they can contribute to an equitable future.

As we reflect on our time spent at Kayonza Modern, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the school’s leadership team, in particular the Headmaster of Kayonza Modern Muvange, Mr Nturo Michell,  for their warm welcome and enthusiastic participation. We eagerly anticipate the prospect of forging a long-lasting partnership dedicated to inspiring young minds who are in the pipeline of talent that will contribute to a robust legal, innovation, and tech ecosystem.
