Kirehe District: GBV Mobile Clinic
On September 19th, 2024, Certa Foundation Kirehe district's pro bono lawyer, Me. Banguwiha Vianney participated in the GBV Mobile Clinic activities organized by Vision Jeunesse Nouvelle (VJN) in the Mahama sector of the Kirehe District. The event aimed to prevent violence against young girls, highlight the importance of addressing gender-based violence (GBV) and support affected individuals. About 150 people attended.
The day commenced with a welcome speech from the Vice Mayor of Social Affairs, who emphasized the significance of community engagement in combating GBV. Following this, Banguwiha had the opportunity to present the CERTA Foundation and its collaborative efforts with the Kirehe district. The attendees expressed gratitude for the services provided, reflecting the positive impact of Certa's initiatives in the Kirehe district.
During the GBV clinic Mobile, Banguwiha received 12 teenagers who had experienced defilement. He recorded their cases and coordinated with local civil services to arrange further assistance. These teen mothers face challenges such as child civil status, lack of support in raising children, and interruptions to their education.
This initiative is part of a broader effort by VJN and its partners to provide essential health services, legal aid, and mental health counseling to young women affected by violence. Such programs are crucial in ensuring that survivors receive comprehensive care and support, enabling them to rebuild their lives and pursue their education without fear of discrimination or violence.
The collaboration between organizations like Certa Foundation and Vision Jeunesse Nouvelle represents a significant step toward addressing the urgent needs of vulnerable groups and fostering a safer environment for girls in the Kirehe district.
