On April 23rd, 2024, the Certa Foundation and Certa Law team had the honor of visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial in Rwanda. This experience deeply moved our team as we learned about the history and impact of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
Before our visit, our Founder and Executive Director, Ms. Florida Kabasinga, shared some powerful words that set the tone for our journey: "We are going as people with a shared identity" and "Nobody should apologize for who they are, who they were born as." These quotes resonated with us as we walked through the memorial, remembering the importance of standing united against hatred and discrimination. The memorial is a powerful and solemn reminder of the need for peace, understanding, and reconciliation in our world. It serves as a tribute to the victims and survivors and educates us on the necessity of preventing such tragedies in the future.
As a team dedicated to justice and humanitarian efforts, we are inspired to support the ongoing work of the memorial and the wider Rwandan community. Together, we can work toward a future where such atrocities are never repeated.
